Play-by-Play
(#1) Charles Oliveira vs. (#4) Islam Makhachev — UFC Lightweight Championship
Round One – Oliveira whiffs on a left hand and Makhachev takes advantage and drags the champion down to the mat. Makhachev settles into top control, Oliveira teases a triangle choke but the challenger avoids and gets back to top control. Oliveira is very active from his back and tries to kick his way out and does so successfully. Oliveira gets Makhachev clinched against the fence and lands a knee to the body but Makhachev trips Oliveira to the mat with another takedown. Oliveira again goes for a triangle but Makhachev is having none of it and steps over into full guard. Makhachev lands some ground and pound, Oliveira scrambles, Makhachev has seemingly the entire crowd behind him and continues the barrage of strikes, Oliveira cracks Makhachev with an up kick but the buzzer sounds that’ll end a dominant round for the challenger.
Round Two – Makhachev immediately clinches Oliveira up to begin round number two. The champion lands a knee to the body and forces the break as the pair circle back to the center of the octagon. Makhachev cracks Oliveira with a right hook, the champion drops to the mat and the challenger immediately locks in a head-and-arm choke and Oliveira has no choice but to tap! And NEW UFC Lightweight Champion, Islam Makhachev!

Aljamain Sterling (C) vs. (#2) TJ Dillashaw — UFC Bantamweight Championship
Round One – Sterling with a low kick to open the action. Dillashaw goes for a front kick to the body but the champion catches it and trips Dillashaw to the mat and ends up on top. Sterling creates some separation and starts unloading heavy shots from the top. Dillashaw rolls, Sterling gets the back and goes for the choke but Dillashaw continues to roll and forces Sterling to loosen the hold. Dillashaw scrambles and gets to a knee but Sterling shoves him right back on the mat stomach-first and looks for another choke but Dillashaw explodes to his feet but it looks like he may have hurt his shoulder as the horn sounds to end the opening frame, which was a dominant round for the champion.
Round Two – Dillashaw misses a high kick to start. Sterling lands a low kick then lands a perfectly timed takedown and drags Dillashaw down to the canvas. Sterling tries to transition but Dillashaw holds firm and Sterling starts unloading shots from the top which allows Dillashaw to scramble back to his feet. Sterling lands a front kick to the body and drills Dillashaw with a right hook before tripping the challenger back down to the mat, where he gets side control. Sterling lands a few shots from the top and gets mount, Dillashaw rolls to his side, Sterling continues the barrage of shots, Dillashaw rolls to his stomach, Sterling teases a choke but uses it to continue the heavy shots from the top and referee Marc Goddard has seen enough and this one is waved off! Sterling retains!

(#1) Petr Yan vs. (#11) Sean O’Malley
Round One – O’Malley opens with a kick to the body followed by a low kick. O’Malley lands another front kick to the body, then another as Yan comes back with a low kick of his own. Yan just misses a left hook as referee, Jason Herzog warns O’Malley to watch out for the fingers to Yan’s eyes. O’Malley lands a right hook, Yan comes back with a front kick to the body but O’Malley catches the leg and shoves it aside and lands another right hook flush on Yan. Another body kick finds a home for O’Malley and Yan dives in but O’Malley holds his balance and walks back to the fence, where Yan holds the clinch but O’Malley shoves Yan back and forces the break. O’Malley lands a 1-2 then a calf kick before peppering in the jab. Yan lands a calf kick and latches onto O’Malley before dumping ‘Sugar’ onto the mat with a slam. Yan settles in on top, O’Malley teases a triangle choke but Yan adjusts and tries to get to side control. O’Malley scrambles and gets back to his feet where he lands a left hook. O’Malley partially lands an uppercut then just misses an overhand right. Yan with a body kick, O’Malley dives in for a takedown but the buzzer sounds to end an eventful opening frame.
Round Two – Yan opens with a body kick, O’Malley comes back with an overhand right then cracks the former champion with a left hook. Yan gets on his bike, O’Malley drops him with a left hand but Yan pops up and wallops O’Malley with a left hand that wobbles O’Malley and Yan trips O’Malley to the mat and ends up on top. Both men look content to recover for a few seconds and Yan lands a few shots of ground-and-pound. O’Malley scrambles, Yan adjusts and maintains the position but O’Malley backs up to the fence and uses it to get to his feet. Yan stays clinched and lands a few stomps to the foot, O’Malley spins, Yan holds the clinch but O’Malley forces the break and circles back to the center of the octagon. Yan sweeps O’Malley with a kick and the latter trips to the mat but quickly pops back up. Yan briefly clinches but lets off, O’Malley lands a front kick to the body, Yan lands a body kick of his own, then another and O’Malley comes back with a kick to Yan’s lead leg. O’Malley lands a straight right, Yan misses a high kick but level changes and clinches O’Malley against the cage and trips him to the mat to secure his fourth takedown of the contest. Yan lands an elbow and looks to transition but O’Malley holds firm and the horn sounds to send this one to the third and final round.
Round Three – O’Malley jabs to start. Yan just misses a switch kick and dives in for another takedown but O’Malley holds firm and shoves the former champion aside. O’Malley with a low kick, then another and just misses an overhand left hand. Yan has a body kick parried and just can’t find the range on a right hook to the body. Yan clinches, O’Malley holds his balance and forces the break. O’Malley lands a step-in knee, then a 1-2 and starts teeing off as Yan backs up. Yan misses a head kick, O’Malley cracks Yan with a 1-2, Yan comes back with a left hand, O’Malley wit a jab and a head kick, Yan dives in for a takedown, O’Malley sprawls and Yan pushes him to the fence as Yan is a blood mess after one of O’Malley’s recent big shots. O’Malley teases a guillotine and Yan shoves O’Malley to the mat but O’Malley rolls and gets back to his feet as Yan stays clinched. O’Malley forces the break with just over one minute remaining in this one and both men are in the center of the octagon. Both men miss on massive overhand left hands and O’Malley cracks Yan with a right hook but Yan pushes O’Malley to the mat but both O’Malley rolls and pops back up to his feet. Yan lands a side kick to the body and sweeps O’Malley to the mat and the buzzer sounds to send his one to the judge’s scorecards in what is thus far, a lock for Fight of The Night. Regardless of the outcome, Sean O’Malley has proven that he’s among the elite at 135-pounds.

(#6) Beneil Dariush vs. (#9) Mateusz Gamrot
Round One – Dariush opens the action with a straight left. Dariush has a pair of high kicks blocked, Gamrot dives for a takedown, Dariush scrambles to get top control but Gamrot continues to roll and takes top positioning. Gamrot stays latched onto Dariush, who stands up and now this one is clinched against the fence but Dariush forces the break. Gamrot catches a kick attempt from Dariush and goes in for another takedown and gets it. Dariush rolls and looks for a leg lock, which he uses to get to his knees. Gamrot stays attached and shoves Dariush back to the mat but Dariush pops back up and gets to the fence to force a break of the clinch. Dariush goes for a kick to the body but Gamrot catches it and shoves him back. Dariush has a head kick partially land and the buzzer sounds to end the opening frame.
Round Two – Gamrot immediately goes for a takedown but Dariush sprawls and shoves his opponent back. An overhand left misses for Dariush but he lands a side kick to the body right behind it. Dariush cracks Gamrot with a left hook then a knee to the body, then another, Gamrot comes back with a straight right then dives in for a takedown but Dariush shoves him aside. Another level change for Gamrot but another failed attempt as Dariush avoids. Dariush rocks Gamrot with a left hook then a low kick and has a high kick partially blocked. Dariush with another body kick, Gamrot clocks Dariush with a right hook, Gamrot dives in for a takedown and shoves Dariush to the mat with just seconds remaining in the round and the horn sounds to send this one to the third and final round.
Round Three – Gamrot goes for a takedown the second the round begins but Dariush shoves him back and looks for the leg lock but Gamrot shoves Dariush back and gets back to his feet. Dariush lands a low kick. Dariush pops the jab, Gamrot dives in for another takedown, Dariush holds his balance and backs up to the fence and forces the break. Dariush cracks Gamrot with a massive left hook and Gamrot goes down but pops back up and looks to be somewhat OK for how hard that shot was. Gamrot shoots for a takedown, Dariush avoids but Gamrot is relentless and drags Dariush down to the mat. Dariush looks for a leg lock but uses it to get back on his feet and the buzzer sounds that’ll send this one to the judge’s scorecards.
