UFC 267: Blachowicz vs. Teixeira Betting Breakdown
UFC 267 goes down this weekend.
A pair of title fights headline the night when UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jan Blachowicz defends his title against Glover Teixeira in the night’s main event. The interim UFC Bantamweight title is also on the line as former champion Petr Yan takes on top contender Cory Sandhagen.
Now, let’s make some money…
(Odds via Bet MGM)
UFC Light Heavyweight Championship
Jan Blachowicz (C) (28-8) vs. (#1) Glover Teixeira (32-7)
Odds – Blachowicz (-300), Teixeira (+240)
Breakdown – The final fighter to make the walk to the octagon on Saturday will be UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jan Blachowicz. The Polish-born champion comes into this bout as a betting favorite for the first-time since 2018 where he was a slight (-125) favorite over Nikita Krylov at UFC Fight Night: Moscow, where the current champion would defeat the aforementioned Krylov via second-round submission. The 38-year old champion comes into tomorrow’s main event riding a five-fight winning streak, beating the likes of UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya, Dominick Reyes, Corey Anderson, Jacare Souza and former UFC Middleweight Champion Luke Rockhold.
Standing across from Blachowicz will be newly-turned 42-year old Glover Teixeira, who’ll be entering his second championship bout of his career and the first since 2014, where he would be on the wrong-side of a unanimous decision against Jon Jones at UFC 172. The Brazilian-born contender enters Saturday afternoon in the underdog slot, a place he’s accustom to, entering his last three bouts as the betting underdog, which he’s won all three of.
Pick – Blachowicz (-300)
Interim UFC Bantamweight Championship
(#1) Petr Yan (15-2) vs. (#3) Cory Sandhagen (14-3)
Odds – Yan (-220), Sandhagen (+180)
Breakdown – The interim UFC Bantamweight Championship is up for grabs at UFC 267. The former 135-pound champion, Petr Yan, will be looking to reclaim what he feels he never lost, after dropping the title to now current champion Aljamain Sterling at UFC 259 due to an illegal knee, which caused the Russian-born Yan to be disqualified and relinquish the title to the aforementioned Sterling. Yan has been the betting favorite in all eight of his UFC bouts, and he’s proved his backers right holding a 7-1 record in those matchups, the lone-loss being the previously mentioned DQ against Sterling.
Cory Sandhagen will be standing opposite the aforementioned Yan on Saturday afternoon, looking to claim UFC gold for the first-time in his career. The 29-year old Colorado-native enters Saturday coming off the back of a unanimous decision loss to former longtime 135-pound champion TJ Dillashaw back in July, but will take the short-notice place of current champion Aljamain Sterling who was unavailable for the event. Before his loss to Dillashaw, Sandhagen sandwiched-in back-to-back brutal knockouts of Marlon Moraes and former two-weight UFC Champion Frankie Edgar, which came after he was submitted in the first-round by the aforementioned current champion Aljamain Sterling, who earned his title shot with his victory against Sandhagen.
