White has previously teased in multiple interviews with the media that there also could be fans at these events. When discussing the UFC’s return to fight island, White has stated on multiple occasions that Abu Dhabi definitely has the facilities and safety measures set out for an event that includes fans. If the UFC were to have fans at the event it would be the first time since March.
The UFC’s return to Fight Island also sees the return of combat sports’ biggest megastar, “The Notorious” McGregor. McGregor will fight Poirier on January 23 at UFC 257. The other two cards which have been announced to be involved in the string of events on Fight Island are the featherweight contest between former champion Max Holloway and fellow contender Calvin Kattar, as well as a rescheduled fight between English UFC welterweight Leon Edwards and fast-rising UFC star Khamzat Chimaev.
