The Octagon returned to Madison Square Garden on Saturday, Nov. 2 with a stacked card headlined by Nate Diaz taking on Jorge Masvidal for the BMF Championship. The event drew 20,143 fans for a gate of $6.575 million.
UFC has held annual events at Madison Square Garden every November since 2016. Last year’s event, headlined by Daniel Cormier defending the UFC Heavyweight Title against Derrick Lewis, drew 17,011 fans for a gate of $2.8 million The 2016 event, headlined by Conor McGregor challenging Eddie Alvarez for the UFC Lightweight Championship, remains the biggest gate in UFC history, drawing 20,427 fans for a gate of $17.7 million.
As far as bonuses go, Stephen Thompson and Vincente Luque took home Fight of the Night for their three-round welterweight fight. Meanwhile, Corey Anderson and Kevin Lee won Performance of the Night bonuses. Anderson derailed the Johnny Walker hype train, stopping the rising light heavyweight in two minutes with a series of strikes. Not to be outdone, Lee iced Gregor Gillespie with a headkick in the first round for their lightweight contest.
