UFC 242: Khabib vs. Poirier Post-Fight Bonus Information, No Gate Or Attendance Given
Details on UFC 242.
The Octagon returned to Abu Dhabi on Saturday afternoon with UFC 242. Headlined by an Undisputed Lightweight Title fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Dustin Poirier, gate and attendance for the event were not available as the UFC does not “own the gate,” according to UFC President Dana White. Dana would go on to say that the attendance was “amazing” and the gate was “ridiculous.”
Fightful will update this post when the information is provided.
UFC has traveled to Abu Dhabi twice before. UFC 112 in 2010, headlined by Anderson Silva vs. Demian Maia drew 11,008 fans for a gate of $3.5 million. UFC Fight Night 39 in 2014, headlined by Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Roy Nelson, drew 7,963 fans for a gate of $1.8 million.
As far as bonuses go, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Belal Muhammad, Ottman Azaitar, and Muslim Salikhov all took home Performance of the Night bonuses. All four fighters gained an extra $50,000. There was no Fight of the Night bonus.
Khabib was successful in the main event, submitting Dustin Poirier in the third round of their Undisputed Lightweight Title clash.
Meanwhile, Muhammad choked out Takashi Sato in the third round, Azaitar knocked out Teemu Packalén in the first round and Salikhov scored his own first round KO over Nordine Taleb.
