UFC 231 Preliminary Card Viewership In
This past weekend, MMA fans were treated to the UFC 231 card, which featured UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway successfully defending the title in the main event against Brian Ortega.
However, a four fight preliminary card also aired live on Fox Sports 1 before the pay-per-view and according to MMA Fighting, it brought in a total of 786,000 viewers. The four fights on that portion of the card saw Nina Ansaroff defeat Claudia Gadelha, Jessica Eye defeat Katlyn Chookagian, Elias Theodorou defeat Eryk Anders and Gilbert Burns defeat Olivier Aubin-Mercier.
The featured preliminary card bout between Ansaroff and Gadelha brought in the most viewers, with 915,000 people checking out that encounter.
A pre-fight show also aired live on Fox Sports 1 and that brought in 211,000 viewers, while a post-fight show on the same network brought in a total of 136,000 viewers.
There was some competition going against the UFC 231 preliminary card, as Showtime was airing a replay of the Tyson Fury versus Deontay Wilder boxing match, while ESPN was also airing a live boxing card with Vasiliy Lomachenko vs. Jose Pedraza as the main event.
Up next for the UFC is UFC On Fox 31, with a four fight main card airing live on Fox and a six fight preliminary card airing live on Fox Sports 1.
