UFC 218 Special Ratings Are In
Fox Sports 1 and the UFC decided to air three fights from UFC 218 on Christmas Eve, similar to what they did last year with UFC 206 on Fox.
Ratings are in for the special and the event drew a total of 357,000 viewers, which is down from the 4,720,000 viewers that UFC 206 drew on Fox.
A huge reason that the UFC 206 special drew such a high number last year was because the lead in to the event was an NFL Football game that drew 15,541,000 viewers. The lead in for the UFC 218 special was a replay of a 3 on 3 basketball league game.
Despite the huge drop in viewership from last year, it was still a good night overall because the taped special still finished third in cable ratings among key demographics.
The three fights that aired on the live special were UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway versus former UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo, former UFC Lightweight Champion Eddie Alvarez versus former WSOF Lightweight Champion Justin Gaethje and Alistair Overeem versus Francis Ngannou.
