UFC 218 Bonuses, Gate, and Attendance Announced, Dana White Recap
UFC 218 delivered an action-packed card, headlined by Max Holloway retained his UFC featherweight title over former champion Jose Aldo with a third-round TKO victory. In the co-main event, Francis Ngannou made a statement by knocking out Alistair Overeem in the first round.
Held at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan, UFC 218 drew 17,587 fans for a gate of $2 million.
Despite nine finishes on the card, no Performance of the Night bonuses were handed out. Instead, two Fight of the Night bonuses were given out. The first went Justin Gaethje and Eddie Alvarez for their back-and-fourth battle that ended with Alvarez stopped Gaethje in the third round. The second went to Yancy Medeiros and Alex Oliveira for their slugfest that ended with Medeiros coming back to stop Oliveira in the third round.
All four fighters took home $50,000 for their efforts. All four fighters were also sent to the hospital.
In the post-fight press conference, Dana White mentioned that they would take care of Francis Ngannou for his KO over Alistair Overeem. While not official bonus was given, some type of monetary compensation for Ngannou is expected.
The first bout between Max Holloway and Jose Aldo took place at Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. That card drew 15,412 fans. No gate was announced for that event.
