UFC 202 Looks To Have Set UFC PPV Record

Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz’s rematch may have set a new UFC record.

According to Dave Meltzer at MMA Fighting, the UFC 202 pay-per-view is estimated at 1.65 million buys, which would be a UFC record. The old record was held by UFC 100, which featured Brock Lesnar, Georges St-Pierre, and Dan Henderson, which finished at 1.6 million buys.

Diaz and McGregor’s first fight at UFC 196 did an impressive 1.5 million buys, just 100,000 off of the previous record. The two were also slated to compete at UFC 200, before McGregor was pulled from the card for not fulfilling media obligations.

An interesting note is that the 1.65 million number wouldn’t even include those ordered through UFC’s online services. Those numbers would have also placed UFC 196 above UFC 100.

Both McGregor and Diaz have both openly stated their desire to fight each other a third time, something UFC President Dana White pledges will not be happening immediately.
