Former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury is one of the most controversial figures in the sport of boxing.
When it comes to the super fight between UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather, the controversial fighter is going with the Irishman.
“I think Conor McGregor will knock him out in the first 35 seconds, like he did to Jose Aldo,” Fury said to iFL TV. “I think McGregor will do him inside one round. C’mon McGregor!”
That is quite the claim from Fury, because McGregor has no professional boxing experience to speak of and Mayweather is competing for the fiftieth time as a professional.
Not only is Fury picking McGregor to beat Mayweather, but the former heavyweight champion says a McGregor win would be good for the sport of boxing.
“It’ll be good for boxing if McGregor chinned him,” Fury added. “I think it would be great for the real people of the world.”
Fury himself has been inactive since November of 2015, when he defeated Vladimir Klitschko to become the heavyweight champion.
Conor McGregor versus Floyd Mayweather takes place on Saturday, August 26 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
