Tyron Woodley Wonders How Many Free Passes Conor McGregor Gets
UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor was recently caught on video using a homophobic slur backstage at UFC Fight Night Gdansk.
Tyron Woodley is the current UFC Welterweight Champion and he is starting to wonder just how many free passes the lightweight champion will get.
“I’m fired up about Conor McGregor, man,” Woodley said on TMZ Sports The Hollywood Beatdown. “He was using homophobic slurs. How many passes do we give this dude?”
McGregor did issue an apology recently when he appeared on The Late Late Show and UFC President Dana White say that people need to get more education on the subject.
Woodley admits he has given the UFC Lightweight Champion a free pass himself before, but he thinks the Irishman needs to grow a social conscience.
“That’s like the person that dropped the ‘N bomb’ and says ‘I’m not racist. I got three black friends, and I had them over for dinner last night,’” Woodley said. “I gave him a pass during the Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight. He was using the term ‘boy’, ‘monkey’, things that have had very, very negative, racial undertones in the past. But I got a problem with this. When you’re a celebrity of that stature, you’re making that kind of money, you need to have a PR person on staff, and you need to have a bit more of a social conscience when you’re saying things.”
In the past, the UFC Welterweight Champion has said he doesn’t like the way he has been treated by the UFC and he has also been accused on playing the race card before.
