Tyron Woodley Claims Colby Covington’s Trash Talk Is Scripted
It is no secret by now that UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley and Colby Covington are not on the best of terms with each other.
Covington has been talking a lot of trash about Woodley and others in recent months, but the welterweight champion believes that all that talk from Covington is scripted.
“You can just kinda look at it, and you can tell for yourself. It’s written and it’s scripted,” Woodley said to MMA Fighting. “If he would have thought of it by himself, it would be like, ‘okay, he’s trying’. But when you sit down, and you and a group of guys are writing this out, like strategizing this, it’s kinda embarrassing. I know it is. He has John Harnett, from American Top Team, writing it out for him – which is even more so embarrassing. That the guy that’s managing the front desk of ATT is scripting out your entire onslaught and doing photoshops.”
Woodley may be facing Covington sometime this year, as Covington is going to be facing former UFC Lightweight Champion Rafael Dos Anjos for the vacant UFC Interim Welterweight Title at UFC 225.
When it comes to the upcoming interim title fight, a confident Woodley believes he knows how things are going to play out.
“Colby’s gonna come out and throw pillow fists and try to wrestle RDA to death,” Woodley said. “RDA’s gonna throw the same combinations, the same left kick. He’s gonna try to get on top, try to get a head and arm triangle – and that’s what he does well at.”
UFC 225 takes place on Saturday, June 9 from the United Center in Chicago, Illinois with Robert Whittaker and Yoel Romero headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
