Tyron Woodley Is “Always Going To Be A Champion,” Says Vicente Luque’s Coach
Vicente Luque’s coach Greg Jones says Tyron Woodley’s accomplishments can never be taken away from him.
Jones, the wrestling coach at Sanford MMA, spoke with Fightful in a special video rating Kamaru Usman’s UFC opponents. Jones asserted that all careers have ups-and-downs, but that should not deny Woodley a top-tier rating.
“I don’t care what his last three or four outings suggest. He’s a champion. In my mind, he’s always going to be a champion. There are very few of them out there. Regardless of the last few fights and where his career goes, I’m gonna keep a guy like that at S [rating],” Jones asserted. “Kamaru was the one who kind of broke the dam there with Woodley in his last few fights.”
Woodley is currently riding a three-fight skid; however, at his peak, Woodley retained his UFC welterweight title in four fights since conquering Robbie Lawler for the belt.
UFC 260 takes place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, March 27. The pay-per-view card is headlined by a UFC heavyweight title rematch between Stipe Miocic and Francis Ngannou. Keep up with Fightful for all your event-related coverage.
