Two More Bouts Added To UFC 216
A pair of bouts have been added to the UFC 216 card as #2 Henry Cejudo faces #4 Wilson Reis and #15 Ashlee Evans-Smith faces Sarah Moras.
Cejudo (10-2-0) is going to enter the fight on a two fight losing streak, dropping bouts to flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson and Joseph Benavidez. Cejudo hasn’t earned a victory in almost two years, as his last victory came over Jussier Formiga at UFC Fight Night 78 in November 2015.
Reis (22-7-0) is competing for the first time since losing a title bout to current champion Demetrious Johnson at UFC On Fox 24. Reis is also the first and only Elite XC Flyweight Champion, defeating Abel Cullum in September 2008 to win the gold.
Evans-Smith (5-2-0) has won two of four fights under the UFC banner, with those two victories coming over Marion Reneau and Veronica Macedo. Evans-Smith also won the Championship Fighting Alliance Women’s Bantamweight Tournament, defeating Fallon Fox in the finals.
Moras (4-2-0) is competing for the first time in over two years, as her last bout was a loss to Jessica Andrade at UFC Fight Night 71 in July 2015. Moras also competed on the UFC Ultimate Fighter 18, where she lost to eventually winner Julianna Pena in the semi-finals.
UFC 216 takes place on Saturday, September 9 from Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
