Two Huge Fights, Others Set For UFC 214: Northcutt, Barao, Korean Zombie, More

A pair of huge bouts have been added to the upcoming UFC 214 card as #8 Aljamain Sterling face former UFC Bantamweight Champion #15 (FW) Renan Barao and #3 Ricardo Lamas faces #5 Chan Sung Jung.

Sterling (13-2-0) has won just one of his last three fights, defeating Augusto Mendes, while suffering defeats to Bryan Caraway and Raphael Assuncao. Sterling is a former Cage Fury Fighting Championships Bantamweight Champion, defeating Sean Santella to win the belt in 2011.

Barao (34-4-0-1NC) is returning to bantamweight after a two fight run at featherweight, where he defeated Philippe Nover and suffered a defeat to Jeremy Stephens. Barao won the UFC Bantamweight Title when he defeated Urijah Faber at UFC 149 and he defended the belt three times before losing it.

Lamas (17-5-0) has rotated wins and losses in his last five UFC fights, with his last bout being a victory over Charles Oliveira at UFC Fight Night 98. Lamas has previously challenged for the UFC Featherweight Title, losing to current champion Jose Aldo at UFC 169.

Jung (14-4-0) has competed just once in the last four years, which was a victory over Dennis Bermudez at UFC Fight Night 104. Jung has also previously challenged for the UFC Featherweight Title, losing to current champion Jose Aldo at UFC 163.

Also added to the show is a battle between Sage Northcutt (8-2) and Claudio Puelles (7-1).

UFC 214 takes place on Saturday, July 29 from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California with Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
