Top 15 Welterweight Added To UFC 218

A welterweight division attraction is the latest addition to the UFC 218 card as #14 Alex Oliveira is going to be in the Octagon against Yancy Medeiros.

Globo Esporte had initially reported the bout.

Oliveira (17-4-1-2NC) enters the fight on the strength of a four fight winning streak and he hasn’t suffered a defeat in just about two years. During that four fight winning streak, the Brazilian defeated James Moontasri, Will Brooks, Tim Means and Ryan LaFlare. Oliveira has only suffered a pair of defeats during his UFC tenure, coming to Donald Cerrone and Gilbert Burns.

Medeiros (14-4-1NC) will enter this contest having won two of his last three in the UFC, with those wins coming over Sean Spencer and Erick Silva. Medeiros has previously competed as a lightweight in the UFC, earning a record of 3-4-0-1NC in that time. Medeiros is also a veteran of the Hawaii Fight League promotion, winning all four fights he competed at in the promotion.

UFC 218 takes place on Saturday, December 2 from the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan with Max Holloway and Frankie Edgar headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
