Top 10 Middleweight Fight Added To UFC Fight Night 101

Just days after defeating Uriah Hall at UFC Fight Night 94, Derek Brunson is already booked in a top 10 bout.

Brunson will be booked against Robert Whittaker at UFC Fight Night 101.

Brunson will be entering the fight riding a five fight winning streak, those five wins have come over the aforementioned Uriah Hall, plus Lorenz Larkin, Ed Herman, Sam Alvey and Roan Carneiro. Brunson has also finished four of those five victories via a first round finish, the only person to get past the opening round was Lorenz Larkin at UFC 177.

Whittaker will also be entering this fight on a five bout winning streak, and will be competing for the fifth time for UFC in Australia. The five fight win streak that Whittaker is currently riding includes victories over Mike Rhodes, Clint Hester, Brad Tavares, Uriah Hall and Rafael Natal.

Brunson has only suffered a single defeat in the UFC, to Yoel Romero by TKO at UFC Fight Night 35. Brunson will also be competing in his fourth straight “fight night” event. His last pay-per-view fight was at UFC 183 in January 2015. Whittaker will be fighting on his first “fight night” card in sixteen months, his last “fight night” appearance was at UFC Fight Night 65 in May 2015.

UFC Fight Night 101 takes place on Saturday, November 27th from the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Auustralia with Luke Rockhold and Ronaldo Souza headlining.
