Todd Duffee Details Recent Health Scare

UFC fighter Todd Duffee hasn’t been seen in action since a first round knockout loss to former UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir at UFC Fight Night 71 in July of 2015.

The fighter has since undergone two knee surgeries and a MRSA scare, while also battling an issue with antibiotics that he wasn’t managing well.

“I wasn’t managing well enough, and boom, it just hits you,” Duffee said to MMA Junkie Radio. “And it hits you quick. You know it. You get this anxiety over you, like, man, I feel real uncomfortable. I don’t feel good, but you have this inert anxiety, and it hits you fast. You’ve just got to go to the hospital.”

Duffee had suffered the knee injury while sparring with fellow UFC fighter Blagoy Ivanov this past July, it was discovered by doctors that a surgery on the other knee was needed during the initial procedure.

One thing that a recovering Duffee still plans on doing is to step back into the Octagon and compete again.

“At this point, I’m just thinking about my clock,” he said. “I’ve not had the career that I’ve put the time into. I owe myself 20 more fights, at least. That’s what I want. What’s realistic, we’ll see.”

A recovering Duffee holds a 3-2-0 record under the UFC banner, with all three wins coming by way of first round KO/TKO.
