TJ Dillashaw Says Max Holloway Can Be Next, Coach Ludwig Says Fight Would Be A Challenge
The 135 kingpin may have his eyes set on the future and that may include UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway.
“Everyone wants me to go to featherweight and fight Max,” Dillashaw said on an Instagram live video (via MMA Junkie). “I would love to. But look, one step at a time. Let’s run through Cejudo first then Max can be next. [I can] be the first one to ever go for three belts.”
If Dillashaw were to somehow beat both Cejudo and Holloway, it would make him the first fighter to simultaneously hold three titles in the UFC.
Duane Ludwig is Dillashaw’s coach and he echoes the same sentiments about Holloway that Dillashaw stated, while admitting that it would be quite the challenge.
“I think that would be more of a challenge to go up in weight than it has been to go down in weight,” Ludwig told MMA Junkie. “T.J. is not a big bantamweight anyway. Going up in weight, that’s when we’ll see more change. I assume he would become possibly a little slower, but have more power. But we’ll see what ends up happening if that’s the journey for us. Right now we’re focused on the task at hand.”
UFC Fight Night Brooklyn takes place on Saturday, January 19 from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York with Henry Cejudo and TJ Dillashaw headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
