TJ Dillashaw Believes Demetrious Johnson Is Ruining His Legacy

Former UFC Bantamweight Champion TJ Dillashaw is on the campaign trail, with the end game being a shot at the UFC Flyweight Title held by Demetrious Johnson.

Johnson has yet to accept a fight with Dillashaw and the former bantamweight kingpin believes that “Mighty Mouse” is ruining his legacy by turning down the fight.

“I think the smartest thing for me to do is stay on the path I’m on now until Demetrious mans up and realizes he’s going to ruin his legacy by not taking this fight,” Dillashaw said to MMA Junkie.

The fight started getting talked about more and more after Dillashaw’s fight with UFC Bantamweight Champion Cody Garbrandt was pulled from UFC 213 after Garbrandt suffered a back injury.

Whether it comes against Johnson or another opponent, the former bantamweight kingpin wants to fight soon.

“I feel like it’s disappointing that Demetrious is going to go out this way and not take the fight,” Dillashaw said. “I don’t care if it’s Cody or if it’s Demetrious, I just want to fight. I want to fight soon. I want that big title fight. But I need to know sooner than later, because I’m in the process of changing my entire body around right now. This isn’t an eight-week process; this is a 12-week process. Not only do I want to make the weight, I want to perform at the weight, as well.”

If Dillashaw does get the fight against Johnson and he wins the title, then he would only be a handful of fighters to hold gold in two different weight classes under the UFC banner.
