Tito Ortiz Wants To Fight Chael Sonnen Again

Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Tito Ortiz retired again after defeating former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Chuck Liddell in the main event of Golden Boy MMA: Liddell vs. Ortiz III.

Although it has only been a few months since the fight, a second bout with UFC veteran Chael Sonnen may lure Ortiz back into action.

“He started it,” Ortiz said to TMZ Sports. “As Chuck started it. And Chuck only lasted what? Four and a half minutes? He called me out man. I’m gonna stay in retirement. I’m still gonna stay retired, and I’m gonna smash Chael. I’m not gonna choke him, I’m not gonna submit him, I’m gonna smash him. I’ll put a show on for every one of the fans. That’s what I’m gonna do.”

Ortiz and Sonnen first met in the main event of Bellator 170, with Ortiz scoring a first round submission on that night.

If the rematch were to happen, a perfect location for the fight according to Ortiz would be Madison Square Garden.

“I don’t know,” Ortiz said. “So, I’ve never fought at Madison Square Gardens, so possibly Madison Square Gardens. That’ll be the first thing.”

Sonnen is still under contract to Bellator MMA, so a potential second fight would most like take place there.
