Tito Ortiz May Run For Mayor Of Huntington Beach, California
Ortiz, who had previously expressed interest in becoming a police officer, is now thinking about following Trump into politics, as the fighter may run for mayor of Huntington Beach, California.
“I’ll be going on a ride along this week, I think sometime Thursday, but I don’t know I’m second guessing it now. Being an officer and trying to control people in an environment is hard to do. At the same time I’m putting myself at risk. Maybe I want to step a little bit higher,” Ortiz said in a recent interview (via Shakiel Mahjouri of Bloody Elbow). “There is an open seat here in Huntington Beach for mayor. Maybe that is the next step. Getting into the politics side and instead of being a person to hold a gun on my side, to be able to use my voice [and] people listen. I gotta do my homework. I gotta do my research and I gotta make sure I’m doing the right things for the right causes. Not just for here in the town of Huntington Beach, but maybe in the future the state of California.”
The former light heavyweight champion has no political experience whatsoever, but that didn’t stop Trump either when he ran for and won the United States Presidency.
