Stipe Miocic Willing To Fight Brock Lesnar

UFC Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic is defending the gold against UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier in the main event of UFC 226.

Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar is rumored to be on his way back to the promotion and Miocic is willing to face the former title holder.

“Honestly, I heard about that too, they’ve talked about it before at that press conference,” Miocic said on Submission Radio. “Like I said, all I care about it July 7th, it’s all I’ve got my mind on, and after that, I’ll worry about it afterward. Then I’ll worry about my daughter being born. No, probably not, [I wouldn’t fight Brock] right now. I’d do it, but not right away. I plan on [taking a break after my daughter is born]. I mean, it’s the plan. I gotta enjoy my daughter.”

Lesnar hasn’t competed in the UFC since fighting Mark Hunt at UFC 200 and would have to re-enter the USADA testing pool before a potential bout could even happen.

Miocic realizes that he first needs to focus on Cormier and UFC 226 before any attention is put towards other title contenders.

“Everyone’s tough, it doesn’t matter. Everyone can win on any given night. It’s the fight game. Honestly, like I said, I don’t really care what’s happening outside of it right now, my focus is on July 7th. Good for Brock, good for Curtis [Blaydes], I wish nothing but the best for them, but right now all I care about is DC, July 7th,” says Miocic.

UFC 226 takes place on Saturday, July 7 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
