So, Conor McGregor And Eddie Alvarez Have Each Others Championships
Just when you thought a Conor McGregor press conference couldn't get any wilder, you realized you needed to stop thinking Conor McGregor press conferences couldn't get any wilder.
McGregor arrived at Thursday's UFC 205 pre-fight press conference significantly late. When he showed up, he grabbed Eddie Alvarez's Lightweight Championship and sat it next to his Featherweight title. An irate Alvarez rushed on stage and grabbed on of the titles.
The wrong title.
Alvarez actually grabbed McGregor's UFC Featherweight Championship. No word on if the dimensions of the titles were actually any different, but indeed, the two have titles meant for their opponents. That was far from the peak of craziness.
Alvarez was told to suck McGregor's "big Irish balls," when he demanded an apology for McGregor bringing up his wife and kids in trash talk. Alvarez later did much of the same, claiming that McGregor's big announcement that he's teasing post UFC 205 was that McGregor is having two kids, but longtime girlfriend Dee Devil was only having one, alleging McGregor's infidelity.
Prior to things getting personal McGregor picked up a chair and tried to crack Alvarez over the head with it, and asked aloud how much that would cost him — alluding to his giant $150,000 fine from the Nevada Athletic Commission in relation to his water bottle tossing incident prior to UFC 202.
McGregor then stated he has his eyes set on every UFC Championship — even Tyron Woodley's Welterweight title. He didn't steal that one from the table, though.
UFC 205 takes place Saturday night, with McGregor and Alvarez headlining. Fightful.com will have full, live coverage of the show, including a live post-fight podcast. You can check out our preview show at this link.
