Showdown Joe’s UFC 208 Betting Guide! Silva, Holm, Jacare, De Randamie
The City of Brooklyn is set to play host to UFC 209: Holm vs. de Randamie, where on Saturday night, the organization will crown its first ever Women’s Featherweight Champion. Add to the fact we have MMA’s GOAT in the co-main event and a potential future middleweight champion on the main card as well, it’s safe to say Saturday Night's alright for fighting.
The odds for the headliner have yours truly scratching my head. Former Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm (+105) is a slight underdog opposite opponent Germaine de Randamie (-125). Personally, I believe Holly should be the favorite so right off the bat, that +105 on “The Preacher’s Daughter” looks pretty to me.
Take nothing away from GDR’s striking acumen, but in this MMA bout, look for Holly to be somewhat patient and use her counter-striking effectively for the full 25 minutes. I do not see this one ending early, in fact, I would not be surprised if it goes the distance.
Now, can de Randamie pull off the T/KO victory? Yes – and if you believe so, you can get it at +280. And you know exactly where I’m going next. Holly Holm can also win this one via T/KO, and that pays +455. As the 90’s kids would say: “SWEET”.
But seeing as this is MMA, the fight can end at anytime, and all my signs are pointing to Holly Holm being able to finish Germaine de Randamie before the 25 mins is up. I just don’t know if she will be able to pull off the submission, but heck, she probably can, so I really like the prop ‘Holm wins inside distance’ at +318.
In the evening’s co-main event, Anderson Silva, arguably the sport’s Greatest Of All Time, is the underdog (+125) vs. Derek Brunson (-145) a fighter who is one notch below him in the rankings.
Call me a fool but I still believe in “The Spider” despite him consistently proving me wrong. I just wish he would stop messing around and actually execute his greatness. It’s sad, on my part, I know, but it’s all I can hope for whenever he fights. If he does launch his matrix mastery, and survives Brunson’s first round pressure, that +290 on Silva via T/KO is a salivating option.
Moving on to the Ronaldo Souza bout with Tim Boetsch. Jacare is a -525 favorite with “The Barbarian” a big underdog at +415. This screams finish so if you agree with Souza doing his thing, then Souza via T/KO can be had at +400 or via Rd 1 (+100), Rd 2 (+400) or Rd 3 (+1000).
Examining the rest of the available fun bets on this Brooklyn Bonanza, I’m paying attention to:
Glover Teixeira wins inside the distance (+124) vs. Jared Cannonier OR
Jared Cannonier via T/KO (+200) over Glover Teixeira
Dustin Poirier wins via T/KO (+150) over Jim Miller
Jim Miller via submission (+800) over Dustin Poirier
