So, what does Shevchenko think about Amanda Nunes fighting style?

While many people consider Amanda Nunes the queen of two divisions, she is not considered a pound-for-pound great by Shevchenko. “The Lioness” has only tasted defeat twice in MMA. Both those losses came from fighters with better technique than herself.” The Bullet,” on the other hand, believes that size alone makes up for any technical deficiency.

Renowned for her incredible undefeated streak of seven years, Nunes has submitted and knocked out several opponents, including Ronda Rousey. The latter is considered by many as one of the most formidable female fighters in MMA history. In an interview with Shevchenko, though, she dismissed these accomplishments stating that they were due to being more significant than everyone else because “size matters.”

She said that it is true that everyone has power. Talking of 135 pounds, she added that everyone has a lot of energy, but Amanda is bigger than anyone. She wondered whether her walking weight was 160 or 170 pounds.

With both women being so dominant in their respective divisions, it is possible that fans will see a third fight down the road. Should this be the case, and should Shevchenko not go out of her way to pack on bulk for such an event as other female fighters might do due to weight concerns. We could witness another talented grappler taking up residence at strawweight with Rousey staying busy.

On the other hand, Nunes would be awaiting word from Japan about whether or not she has been granted permission by regulators there before moving forward.”

“I’m not going to do anything special in order to lift up my weight,” she explained. “It’s just gonna be worse for the fighter and if their whole life they had a certain body type, know how many muscles can carry them – all of sudden you start carrying way more than before.”

Shevchenko quickly runs through the divisions, with six consecutive defenses in three years. She’s a dangerous opponent and poses an imminent threat to any fighter that dares step into The Octagon against her.

Sheva’s most recent defense was at UFC 266 when she beat Lauren Murphy by TKO due to strikes after two rounds of fighting. This made it six out of 7 wins for Shevchenko, who has dominated this slim division so far.
