Shane Burgos Wants A New UFC Deal

Shane Burgos was last seen in action on the preliminary card of UFC 244, defeating Makwan Amirkhani by third round TKO

It turns out that the bout at UFC 244 was the final one under Burgos’ current contract and the fighter would like to sign a new deal with the UFC.

“A ranked opponent would only make sense for me now, but whatever the UFC wants. That was the last fight on my contract, so hopefully I made a statement. I want a big deal next,” Burgos said after the event (via Matt Erickson & Ken Hathaway of MMA Junkie).

Burgos currently holds a 6-1-0 record in the UFC and is ranked #12 in the UFC Featherweight Division.

The fighter has also competed twice now in Madison Square Garden, but Burgos says his second experience was better than the first one.

“The first time I competed in MSG, it was quick, like two minutes or something, so I didn’t have a chance to embrace it. This time, I soaked it in: walking out, being in there, walking back – I soaked it all in. It was awesome. It means a lot to me. You heard how loud the place was. I have so many friends and family here and my team, I knew the crowd would be electrifying,” says Burgos.

There has been no comment from the UFC at this time as to Burgos’ status with the company.
