Scott Coker Says Lorenz Larkin Could Get Title Shot Over Michael Page

Michael Page and Lorenz Larkin both competed at Bellator 237, with Page defeated Shinsho Anzai and Larkin defeating Keita Nakamura.

Bellator MMA Welterweight Champion Douglas Lima’s next title defense isn’t set at this time, but Bellator MMA President Scott Coker says Larkin could get the title shot before Page.

“To me, I think the fight that we would like to see is Lorenz fight Lima, because he hasn’t fought him before,” Coker said after the event (via Simon Head & John Morgan of MMA Junkie). “But I’d also like to see Lorenz fight ‘MVP,’ too. So, we’ll see. We’re going to mix it up and have some fun with that weight class.”

Lima does hold victories over both Page and Larkin, as he defeated Page at Bellator 221 and Larkin at Bellator 180

Larkin did miss weight for the bout against Nakamura at Bellator 237, but Coker is willing to give the fighter a pass on that mistake.

“We can look past that,” he said. “He came a long way and it’s not an easy task. I think that the flight, the trip, it’s just a different environment. I think in the timeframe that was different, that had a lot to do with it. The guy has fought – I don’t know his record offhand – but I think in 24 fights he has never missed weight. So we’ve got to give him a pass for that one.”

There is no word yet on when Lima is making his next title defense, as the fighter last competed in the main event of Bellator 232.
