Scott Coker Says Bellator 242 Moving Forward As Planned, Playing Things By Ear

Bellator 242 is scheduled for Saturday, May 9 with two division champion Ryan Bader defending the light heavyweight gold against Vadim Nemkov in the main event.

Scott Coker says the event is moving forward as planned, but will make any adjustments as needed.

“Right now, for May 9, it’s business as usual,” he told MMA Fighting. “If the government extends the self-quarantine, we’ll adjust as needed.”

The promotion did have to postpone this month’s Bellator 241 card due to the coronavirus and it hasn’t been rescheduled as of this writing.

Coker says they are playing everything by ear right now, but knows things will return to normal one day.

“I think everybody has to just hunker down and play it by ear, and hopefully the virus will have a timeframe and then hopefully it will get back to normal,” Coker said. “At some point, we’ll look for all systems clear, and then we’ll start promoting fights again.”

Bellator 242 takes place on Saturday, May 9 from the SAP Center in San Jose, California with Ryan Bader and Vadim Nemkov headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on the Paramount Network.
