Sara McMann Wants To Fight This Summer

Sara McMann gave birth to a healthy baby boy this past December and now the one time women’s bantamweight title challenger is looking to get back into the Octagon.

The fighter recently stated that she would like to return to UFC action in the early Summer.

“I’m hoping to come back around May or June,” McMann told MMA Junkie. “But my body will determine when I’m ready.”

McMann was last seen in action at UFC On Fox 28 in February of 2018, suffering a submission loss to Marion Reneau. McMann is actually in the midst of a two fight losing streak and hasn’t picked up a victory since defeating Gina Mazany by first round submission at UFC Fight Night 105 in February of 2017.

It was at UFC 170 in February of 2014 that McMann challenged for the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Title, losing to then champion Ronda Rousey by first round TKO. The bantamweight fighter is still ranked #8 in the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Division rankings, meaning a potential second opportunity at the gold isn’t out of grasp.

There are currently seven UFC events scheduled between May 4 and June 29, giving the returning fighter plenty of opportunities to return by the aforementioned time frame.
