Ryan Bader Is Happy Corey Anderson Signed With Bellator, Says He’ll Get Paid More
Ryan Bader is thrilled to see Corey Anderson join him in Bellator’s light-heavyweight division.
Anderson recently signed a multi-fight contract with Bellator, ending a six-year stint with the UFC. One person who is happy with Anderson signing with Bellator is two-division Bellator champion Ryan Bader, who says Anderson will make more money in his new fighting home.
“I know Corey pretty well, too, we trained together in the past,” Bader said to MMA Fighting. “I brought him in when I fought Phil Davis and all that kind of stuff. That’s a great pickup for Bellator and I think it was a great decision on his part, too. I can guarantee you he’s getting paid way more.”
Bader previously stated the reason he signed with Bellator after leaving the UFC was due to a better payday by the Viacom owned promotion.
The two-division champion also knows that Anderson is an immediate contender in Bellator’s 205 division.
“With Bellator, just like myself, it’s a little more freeing for yourself,” Bader said. “Like I did for myself. Like I got to do the Grand Prix and all that. I’m very happy for Corey and he brings another good name and some depth to the division and some new blood. Obviously, he’s going to be in title contention or be fighting in a title eliminator right away.”
There is no word as to when Anderson will make his Bellator debut or who he will fight.
