Rory MacDonald Wants Title Shot With Win Over Paul Daley
Former UFC fighter Rory MacDonald is making his Bellator MMA debut at Bellator 179, where he faces fellow UFC veteran Paul Daley in the main event.
The Canadian not only wants to defeat Daley at Bellator 179, but he wants a title shot after the win.
“Yea, absolutely I want to test out his wrestling and his ground game in general," MacDonald told BJPenn.com. "With that being said, I don’t feel like it is going to be a bad thing for me if the fight stays standing. I like my chances on the feet as well. I will get my title shot right after I go out there and knock out (Paul) Daley.”
Even though MacDonald is looking for the knockout at Bellator 179, the fighter isn’t ruling out a submission finish either.
“With that said, I don’t see a submission being out of the picture either. I feel like I have good chances of finishing the (Daley) fight with strikes or a submission,” says MacDonald.
MacDonald did fight for the UFC Welterweight Title, but lost to then champion Robbie Lawler at UFC 189.
Bellator 179 takes place on Friday, May 19 from Wembley Stadium in London, England with Rory MacDonald and Paul Daley headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs via tape delay on Spike TV.
