Rory MacDonald Made More Sponsorship Money In UFC Than Bellator MMA

Rory MacDonald is going to be making his Bellator MMA debut this Friday Night against Paul Daley in the main event of Bellator 179.

The Canadian standout claims that he made more sponsorship money in the UFC when compared to Bellator MMA.

“I’m definitely very happy with what I’m going to be making for my time in Bellator,” he said on The MMA Hour. “Even if my sponsorships are a little bit down, it’s not a big deal for me. I’m looking at a big upside and I’m very happy with it.”

MacDonald’s last fight in the UFC before heading to Bellator MMA was a decision loss to Stephen Thompson at UFC Fight Night 89.

In an interesting twist, Reebok will still be sponsoring MacDonald until his contract with them comes to a conclusion.

“They were nice enough to continue the sponsorship after I had signed with Bellator even though they weren’t obligated to,” MacDonald said. “They stuck by my side. We had a great partnership, we had a great deal.”

Bellator 179 takes place on Friday, May 19 from the Wembley Arena in London, England with Rory MacDonald and Paul Daley headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs via tape delay on Spike TV.
