The Rock Producing Film About Mark Kerr, Will Star As Kerr
Mark Kerr was one of the biggest mixed martial arts stars in the early days of the sport and now a feature film is being made about him.
The Rock announced during the UFC 244 pre-fight press conference that his Seven Bucks Productions company is producing a movie about the former MMA star, with The Rock attached to star as Kerr in the film.
Kerr has already met with The Rock about the film and it appears that The Rock has his blessings to go forward with the project.
“I loved that he trusts me with his life and his story,” he said at the press conference (via Beatrice Verhoeven & Brian Welk of Variety). “(The Rock told Kerr)I’m going to shine the light on your life.”
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful also provided some highlights as to who Kerr was via Twitter:
Kerr was a D1 wrestler, ADCC Submission Wrestling World Champion, who also won two UFC heavyweight tournaments, and also would go on to compete in PRIDE. Started out unbeaten after 13 fights, and unfortunately went 3-11 after that. Last fought ten years ago at 40 years old

A now retired Kerr last competed at M-1 Global: Breakthrough in August of 2009, suffering a first round TKO loss to King Mo.
There was a documentary made about Kerr over a decade ago titled “Smashing Machine,” but this is going to be the first featured film about the former MMA star.
