Report: UFC Signs Sabina Mazo

There is a new threat coming to the UFC Women’s Flyweight Division because Legacy Fighting Alliance Women’s Flyweight Champion Sabina Mazo has reportedly signed a multi-fight deal with the promotion.

The report from Ariel Helwani of ESPN states that Mazo is expected to debut with the UFC in 2019, possible in March or April. The UFC has five events scheduled for March, while no shows have been announced for April at this time.

Mazo (6-0-0) became the Legacy Fighting Alliance Women’s Flyweight Champion after defeating Invicta FC veteran Shannon Sinn by decision at LFA 37. Mazo has defended the championship once, defeating Caroline Yariwake De Cruz by unanimous decision at LFA 54. Mazo has also picked up two wins by KO/TKO, with both of those finishes coming by way of head kicks. When Mazo does make her official UFC debut, it would mark the fighter time the champ has competed outside of the LFA in almost two years.

There is no word yet on whom Mazo could be fighting when that UFC debut does take place, but she is going to be entering a weight class that is currently ruled by Valentina Shevchenko, who just won the gold at UFC 231.
