This past weekend, MMA fans were treated to a loaded UFC 245 card, which was headlined by Kamaru Usman successfully defending the UFC Welterweight Title against former UFC Interim Welterweight Champion Colby Covington.
A four fight preliminary card would air live on ESPN 2, featuring Geoff Neal defeating Mike Perry in the featured spot, which brought in an average of 865,000 viewers according to MMA Fighting. It was the featured bout between Neal and Perry that brought in the most viewers, with 1.2 viewers checking out that encounter.
Other bouts on that portion of the preliminary card saw Irene Aldana defeat Ketlen Vieira, Omari Akhmedov defeat Ian Heinisch and Matt Brown defeat Ben Saunders.
There was some competition going against the UFC 245 preliminary card, as the 2019 Heisman Trophy presentation aired live on ESPN, while a Top Rank Boxing event featuring Terrance Crawford and Egidijus Kavaliauskus aired live on ESPN after the trophy presentation.
Up next for the UFC is UFC Fight Night Busan, headlined by former UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar and Chan Sung Jung, with the whole event streaming entirely on ESPN+.
