Report: UFC 240 Preliminary Card Brings In Lowest Viewership In ESPN Era

This past weekend, MMA fans were treated to the UFC 240 pay-per-view, which featured UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway successfully defending the gold against former UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar via unanimous decision.

A four fight preliminary card would air first on ESPN and that brought in an average of 722,000 viewers according to MMA Fighting. That number would be the lowest for any UFC pay-per-view preliminary card airing on ESPN.

The four fights that comprised that preliminary card saw Viviane Araujo defeat Alexis Davis, Hakeem Dawodu defeat Yoshinori Horie, Gavin Tucker defeat Seungwoo Choi and Deiveson Figueiredo defeat Alexandre Pantoja.

UFC 240 also did bad in Google Search numbers, as “UFC 240” brought in around 500,000 Google Searches on Saturday Night, with the average pay-per-view card bringing in around a million searches. Competition wasn’t exactly high this past Saturday Night either, with an MLB game on Fox Sports 1 and the Tour De France airing on NBC.

Up next for the UFC is UFC Fight Night Newark, with Colby Covington facing Robbie Lawler in the main event and the whole card will air live on ESPN.
