Report: UFC 236 Brings In Under 100,000 PPV Buys

UFC fans were treated to UFC 236 this past April, with a pair of interim championship bouts taking the top spots on the pay-per-view.

However, despite a pair of title bouts on the bill, a report from Dave Meltzer is stating that the show brought in less than 100,000 buys.

The five bouts on the pay-per-view card saw Dustin Poirier defeat UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway to win the interim lightweight title, Israel Adesanya defeat Kelvin Gastelum to win the interim middleweight title, Khalil Rountree defeat Eryk Anders, Dwight Grant defeat Alan Jouban and Nikita Krylov defeat Ovince St. Preux.

There were issues ordering the pay-per-view for some, which may have affected the buy rate in the end. The issues may have stemmed from the fact that this was the first ever UFC pay-per-view to be sold exclusively on ESPN+ in North America. UFC President Dana White did state that there were some problems with the ordering process, but promised things would be better for UFC 237 this month. A change has been made to the ordering process as well because UFC pay-per-views can be ordered through the ESPN app now, as well as with ESPN+.

Up next for the UFC is the UFC 237 pay-per-view, which is going to be headlined by a women’s strawweight division bout at Rose Namajunas defends the gold against Jessica Andrade.
