Report: Thiago Alves Injured, Off UFC Fight Night Copenhagen
The UFC Fight Night Copenhagen co-main event has taken a hit because a report from MMA Junkie is stating that Thiago Alves has suffered an injury and has been pulled from a bout against Gunnar Nelson.
There is no word at this time as to the nature of the injury affecting Alves or how long the fighter is expected to be out of action for. Nelson is expected to remain on the card at this time, as UFC officials are seeking a replacement for him to face.
Nelson (17-4-1) has won just one of his last three encounters, with that single win coming over Alex Oliveira at UFC 231. Nelson has picked up seventeen wins as a professional MMA fighter and twelve of those came by way of submission. Nelson has gone the distance four times as a professional MMA fighter and the fighter lost three of those bouts.
UFC Fight Night Copenhagen takes place on Saturday, September 28 from the Royal Arena in Copenhagen, Denmark with Jack Hermansson and Jared Cannonier headlining. Fightful is going to be providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
