Report: Shanna Young Replaces Nicco Montano At UFC Fight Night Rio Rancho

Nicco Montano has suffered a MCL injury and has been pulled from UFC Fight Night Rio Rancho, replacing her against Macy Chiasson is Shanna Young.

Brett Okamoto of ESPN reported the fighter withdrawal, while MMA Fighting reported the injury news.

Chiasson (5-1-0) is looking to rebound from her first professional MMA defeat, which came to Lina Lansberg at UFC Fight Night Copenhagen. Chiasson was the women’s featherweight winner of the UFC Ultimate Fighter 28, defeating Pannie Kianzad in the finals of the reality show. Chiasson has competed a total of six times as a professional MMA fighter and two of those bouts went the distance.

Young (7-2-0) is going to be making her UFC debut in this bout and the fighter does so have won three of her last four bouts. Young competed on Dana White’s Contender Series Season 3, Episode 8, suffering a second round submission loss to Sarah Alpar. Young is a former King Of The Cage Women’s Bantamweight Champion, defeating Pam Sorenson at KOTC: Generation X to win the gold. 

UFC Fight Night Rio Rancho takes place on Saturday, February 15 from the Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho, New Mexico with Corey Anderson and Jan Blachowicz headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
