Report: Sergio Pettis Battles Joseph Benavidez At UFC 225
A flyweight division attraction could find its way to the UFC 225 card according to the Chicago Tribune as #1 Joseph Benavidez may be fighting #5 Sergio Pettis.
Benavidez (25-4-0) enters the bout in a six fight winning streak, last defeating Henry Cejudo by split decision at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 24 Finale. Benavidez has previously challenged for the UFC Flyweight Title, losing to current champion Demetrious Johnson at UFC 152 and UFC On Fox 9. Benavidez hasn’t suffered a defeat in over four years, with the last loss coming to Demetrious Johnson in December of 2013.
Pettis (16-3-0) has won four of his last five under the UFC banner, but is coming off of a loss to Henry Cejudo at UFC 218. Pettis has headlined a UFC event before, defeating Brandon Moreno by decision at UFC Fight Night Mexico City. Pettis has seen his last five fights go the distance and it has been almost three years since the competitor got a finish.
