Report: Sean O’Malley Faces Andre Soukhamthath At UFC 222

A bantamweight division affair could be making its way to the UFC 222 card as Sean O’Malley could be in action against Andre Soukhamthath.

Farah Hannoun first reported the fight.

O’Malley (9-0-0) has already competed once under the UFC banner, defeating Terrion Ware at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 26 Finale. O’Malley also competed on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series Episode 2, defeating Alfred Khashakyan by knockout. O’Malley has only seen one of his fights go the distance and that came against Mark Coates at Intense Fighting Championships Fight Night.

Soukhamthath (12-5-0) is looking to build on the momentum of his first UFC win, which came over Luke Sanders at UFC Fight Night Fresno. Soukhamthath is also a former CES MMA Bantamweight Champion, defeating Kody Nordby at CES MMA 33. Soukhamthath also won just one of three as an amateur MMA fighter, with one of those losses coming to fellow UFC fighter Rob Font.

UFC 222 takes place on Saturday, March 3 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
