Report: Ryan Spann Faces Johnny Walker At UFC 253
A light heavyweight division attraction has been added to UFC 253 as #13 Johnny Walker faces #14 Ryan Spann.
Brett Okamoto of ESPN first reported the bout, who’s spot on the card isn’t known at this time.
Walker (17-5-0) enters the contest riding a two fight losing streak, dropping bouts to Corey Anderson and Nikita Krylov. Walker hasn’t picked up a victory in over a year, with his last win coming over Misha Cirkunov at UFC 235. Walker has picked up seventeen wins as a professional MMA fighter and fourteen of them came by way of KO/TKO.
Spann (18-5-0) is undefeated thus far in the UFC, picking up wins over Luis Henrique, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, Devin Clark and Sam Alvey. Spann has competed twice on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series, defeating Emiliano Sordi and suffering a defeat to Karl Roberson. Spann has competed twenty three times as a professional MMA fighter and just five of those bouts went the distance.
UFC 253 takes place on Saturday, September 19 from a location to be announced with Israel Adesanya and Paulo Costa headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
