Report: Renato Moicano Faces Calvin Kattar At UFC 223
A featherweight division affair has reportedly been added to UFC 223 according to Newsday as #15 Calvin Kattar could be fighting Renato Moicano.
Kattar (18-2-0) is currently undefeated under the UFC banner, having defeated the duo of Andre Fili and Shane Burgos. Kattar has seen his last eight fights make it all the way to the third round, with only one of those eight bouts ending with a finish. Kattar hasn’t suffered a defeat in over eight years and that last loss came to Don Carlo-Clauss at Xtreme Championship Fight League 1.
Moicano (11-1-1) is looking to rebound from his first professional MMA defeat, which came to Brian Ortega via third round submission at UFC 214. Moicano had previously won three bouts in the UFC before that loss, with those wins coming over Tom Niinimaki, Zubaira Tukhugov and Jeremy Stephens. Moicano has earned all of his professional MMA victories by submission or decision, but none have come by way of KO/TKO.
UFC 223 takes place on Saturday, April 7 from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York with Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
