Report: Puna Soriano Moved From UFC Fight Night Columbus To UFC Fight Night San Diego
Puna Soriano and Eric Spicely were set to meet this March at UFC Fight Night Columbus, but the UFC has decided to shuffle the deck and re-book both fighters. Soriano will now move onto UFC Fight Night San Diego and face Anthony Hernandez, while Spicely will stay on UFC Fight Night Columbus and face Roman Kopylov.
MMA Junkie first reported the card changes, but no reason was given for the changes at the moment.
Soriano (7-0-0) has already picked up a win under the UFC banner, having defeated Oskar Piechota by first round knockout at UFC 245. Hernandez (7-1-0-1NC) has won just one of two thus far in UFC competition, with that lone win coming over Jun Yong Park at UFC Fight Night Shenzhen.
Spicely (12-5-0) is winless thus far in his second run with the UFC, dropping a bout to Deron Winn at UFC Fight Night Greenville. Kopylov (8-1-0) is winless thus far in the UFC, having dropped a bout to Karl Roberson at UFC Fight Night Moscow.
UFC Fight Night Columbus takes place on Saturday, March 28 from the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio with Francis Ngannou and Jairzinho Rozenstruik headlining. UFC Fight Night San Diego takes place on Saturday, May 16 from a location to be announced in San Diego, California with no main event announced at this time.
