Report: Paulo Costa Injured, Not Fighting At UFC Fight Night Brooklyn
Paulo Costa and Yoel Romero were rumored to be fighting this coming January at UFC Fight Night Brooklyn, but the bout was never officially announced by the UFC.
However, according to a report from Ariel Helwani of ESPN, it will not be happening because Costa has suffered an injury. The extent of the injury is unknown at this time, but Helwani states that said injury will not require surgery. This is the second time a bout between the two has been canned.
Romero is expected to remain on the card at this time and has named former UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva as an opponent he would like to battle at the event.
The duo of Romero and Costa were reportedly set to first clash earlier this month at UFC 230, but an injury forced Romero to be deemed medically unfit to compete at the event.
There is no word yet on just how long Costa is expected to be out of action for, but more should be known as the injury continues to heal up.
UFC Fight Night Brooklyn is scheduled for Saturday, January 19 from the Barclays Center in brooklyn, New York with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
