Report: Patrik Pietila Replaces Gavin Hughes At Bellator 227
Gavin Hughes has been pulled from next months Bellator 227 card for undisclosed reasons according to MMA Fighting, replacing him against Ryan Roddy is going to be Patrik Pietila.
Roddy (7-1-1) is going to be making his Bellator MMA debut in this bout and is also returning to action for the first time in over four years. Roddy won two of three during a run in Cage Warriors, with those wins coming over Fernando Gonzalez and Louis Chapman. Roddy has competed nine times as a professional MMA fighter and just two of those encounters went the distance.
Pietila (11-7-0) is also going to be making his Bellator MMA debut and does so on the strength of a two fight winning streak. Pietila hasn’t suffered a defeat in over a year, with that last loss coming against Toni Lampinen at Cage 43 in April of 2018. Pietila has suffered seven losses as a professional MMA fighter and five of them came by way of decision.
Bellator 227 takes place on Friday, September 27 from the 3 Arena in Dublin, Ireland with Ben Henderson and Myles Jury headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs via tape delay on the Paramount Network.
