Report: MMA Legalization In France Pushed Back
The MMA fans in France were all ready for the sport to be legalized in their country, but now a setback is preventing that legalization from taking place.
A report from Le Parisian is stating that the date for the legalization of MMA in France has been pushed back to February or even later than that. The sport was supposed to be legalized this January and events could be run in the country anytime after that, but that won’t be happening now.
La Parisian reports that the reason that the legalization has been pushed back is because there is a delay in the approval process, which the Comité National Olympique et Sportif Français must give to Roxana Maracineanu, who is the country’s minister of sports.
ARES Fighting Championship was set to be the first promotion to run an event in France, with a card being scheduled for this March, but that could be delayed or canned altogether depending on how long the approval process takes. The event could also be moved out of the country, but no announcement has been made by the promotion at this time.
