Report: Michael Johnson vs. Thiago Moises Added To UFC Fight Night: Smith vs. Teixeira
A lightweight division attraction has been added to UFC Fight Night: Smith vs. Teixeira as Michael Johnson faces Thiago Moises.
Combate first reported the bout, but the fight’s spot on the card isn’t known at this time.
Johnson (19-15-0) enters the contest riding a two fight losing streak and he hasn’t picked up a win in well over a year. Johnson has competed as a featherweight and lightweight in the UFC, earning an overall record of 11-11-0 in the promotion. Johnson made it to the finals of the UFC Ultimate Fighter 12, but he lost to Jonathan Brookins in that final fight.
Moises (12-4-0) has won just one of three under the UFC banner, with that lone win coming over Kurt Holobaugh at UFC 237. Moises competed on Dana White’s Contender Series Brazil Episode 3, defeating Gleidson Moraes Cutis by first round TKO. Moises is a former LFA/RFA Featherweight Champion, defeating Jamall Emmers to win the gold at RFA 38 in June of 2016.
UFC Fight Night: Smith vs. Teixeira takes place on Wednesday, May 13 from the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida with Anthony Smith and Glover Teixeira headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on ESPN.
