Report: Michael Chiesa Seeking Conor McGregor’s Bus Attack Profits In Lawsuit
A report from TMZ is stating that Chiesa’s legal team has now filed a motion seeking the profits that McGregor may have made due to the bus attack. The fighter’s legal team is citing the “Son Of Sam” law, which states that anybody convicted of a crime cannot profit in any way from said crime.
Chiesa has maintained since the bus attack that McGregor cost him an opportunity at the UFC Lightweight Title, since injuries from the attack prevented him from being a potential late replacement opponent to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov for the then vacated UFC Lightweight Title. Al Iaquinta wound up getting that spot and would suffer a unanimous decision loss to Nurmagomedov in the UFC 223 main event.
McGregor has returned to action since the title fight, suffering a fourth round submission loss to Nurmagomedov in the main event of UFC 229. Chiesa is making his welterweight division debut later this month at UFC 232, facing former UFC Interim Welterweight Champion Carlos Condit in a main card encounter.
